Preparing playtest 2
Dev of playtest 2 are on the way.
After the first playtest, I received feedback regarding controls, and also a bug with the player climbing on the air
I replaced the old chunky function managing all the player movement, interaction and inputs to a new state machine system, where each state has it’s own set of code. It solved some movements issues, and allowed me to also enhance it, for example allowing the player to grab a ladder while falling, or forcing a pause in inputs before executing an action
I also replaced my custom inputs system by a library (https://github.com/offalynne/Input) because while I can write my own system, where is so many edge case, specifically regarding Steam, that I found safer to rely on other’s work
I currently work on new mechanics for Camera : moving, with all possibles variants like stopping when detecting player, etc.
I also browse itch to check for graphical assets. While I want to hire a artists for all the graphics, I don’t want to work during months with ugly assets :) If I found assets that I enjoy, it will be a base tone for an artist to make custom pixel arts
I expect the playtest 2 to be available later this month :)
